What measures does Apple take in terms of software to reduce OLED burn-in and yellowing on iPhones?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 05:42 AM PST

So, I know there have been similar posts related to this topic (as I have read them all). However -- although they almost all mention that one shouldn't worry about OLEDs on iPhones -- none of them explains what EXACTLY Apple does in software to counteract or delay the inevitable degradation of its OLED displays.

The reason I'm asking is because I would like to buy the 11 Pro and use it for at least 3-4 years, but I just know I will constantly be checking the screen for burn-ins...

Knowing about these methods would provide a bit of reassurance and peace of mind. Pixel shifting comes to mind. And... that's about it.

    Thanks in advance.

Twitter Has Apologised For The Buggy App For Apple iPhone, And Promises a Fix

    I'm switching to iPhone

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:32 PM PST

I've used Samsung since I got my first phone. After years of my friends telling me to make the switch and me being disappointed with Samsung, I'm finally going to do it. The reason I'm making this post, tho, is because I'm wondering what features I'll be leaving behind. If any of you have owned a Samsung in the past, or just simply know some features that are present in them that aren't in iPhone, I would be thankful if you let me in on them. I'm getting the 11 Pro (probably)

    question about iphone upgrade program

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:09 PM PST

    Hello,

I walked into an apple store today and was told by one of the people that work there that Apple no longer sells unlocked phones as part of their upgrade program. Apple's website still says all phones within the upgrade program are unlocked. Which is it?

Question for users iPhone X /Xs/11pro; do u think the coating wears off when using clear silicone cases or when using it with with no case at all?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 03:12 PM PST

So I had an IPhone X and I used for a bit with a clear silicone case that covered the bottom . In less than a month I noticed 'stains ' next to lighting port . But I then I wondered maybe is the placement of my hand when I use my official cases . Just got the iPhone 11 Pro . Any ideas?

Good, relatively "cheap" carriers/plans for 2 iPhone 11s?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:52 PM PST

I want to get a plan that will be affordable, for both me and my boyfriend. I have never had service before so if that changes anything ill be a new customer for any company. Any suggestions?

iPhone 11 Pro, scratchgate is real

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 08:58 PM PST

Was in the library and my 11 pro just hit the light at an angle. Screen is literally covered in micro scratches. I didnt even notice until now and I've had it since release. Before this I had my iPhone 8+ for 2 years, no case no screen protector and barely a scratch at all. I really take good care of my phones and rarely if ever drop them so I figured it be ok. If anyone else is going screen protector less, highly recommend getting one before you end up like me.

    Edit: for everyone defending Apple:

"Dude, why are you protecting Apple on this? They are saying that this is the strongest glass they've ever used and they certainly haven't been putting an asterisk "oh but since it's more shatter resistant have fun with micro scratches, sorry!" Not sure what your point is - it's unacceptable in every way. Don't say it's strong if it's soft as a freshly laid egg, Apple." /u/rlh445.

Edit 2: holy shit you can't say even a slight negative thing about Apple in here before the fanboys come out. Paying $1099+ for a phone, yea I expect it to be scratch and shatter proof and No that's not too high of an expectation when other phones like the OnePlus 7T are $799, $300 cheaper and has 90hz. Defending Apple on this only hurts you in the long run because it tells them it's ok to release a subpar product. Yes, being easily scratched makes it a subpar product.
