Opinion: Apple TV+ should’ve been a separate tab in the Apple TV app.

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 02:47 PM PDT

For most people I know (non-techies), it's difficult for them to find JUST the Apple TV+ content. Random content hides it. It should be its own tab.

I got free Apple TV+ for 1 Year!

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:14 AM PST

So, I took my 8-month old iPad to Apple service for warranty because the volume rocker got stuck. This was last September. Apple sent me a new iPad because apparently they don't repair iPads, they just provide a replacement. And since I basically got a new iPad as replacement, I got free 1 year Apple TV+! Woohoo!

After seeing SEE one can conclouse the rumors about apple going PG are false. You have tons of killings, stabbings and mastrubation in episode 1. I am happy they are not limiting the writers. Great news!

Is anyone else dealing with issues on the Roku ATV App?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:44 AM PST

First issue is that there appears to be intermittent glitching (not really buffering issues) consistently with shows/movies I purchase or even stream. Sometimes it is every minute or so, others it is every 20 min. This occurred with The Morning Show and with movies and shows I have purchased.

Other issue is that for TV shows, it does not autoplay or skip intro like when using the ATV app from ATV hardware. This is likely just an update issue, but I am wondering if I can leave feedback for apple anywhere rather than on the Roku platform?

    Thanks!

    Up Next keeps losing programmes

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:22 AM PST

I'm having problems with my Apple TV app - the Up Next feature keeps losing some of my shows, it looks like its reverting to a previous version. Logging out and in again sometimes works but not always. Doe anyone have any ideas?

Apple TV 4K and Yamaha RX-V677, No Dolby Vision

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:13 AM PST

    Hi,

I'm looking for some advice. Apple TV 4K connected to Yamaha RX-V677 Amp and then to Sony XF90 TV. In this configuration I can't get Dolby Vision working only 4K. When I connect Apple TV directly to my TV I can get Dolby Vision signal without any issue. Is my amp too old? I always thought amp does passthrough signal only.

    Critics got Apple TV+ Wrong

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 10:08 PM PDT

In the days leading up to the release of Apple TV+ the critics got to see the episodes of the shows a few days early. Reviews were mixed to say the least and I'd say the majority of the critical reviews averaged around 5/10 for even the best of the shows. I have yet to see a review I agree with even from reviews that I tend to align with.

After watching all of the episodes that the critics had available to them I'm struck by how closed off and negative they were to these shows. After 3 episodes most of the reviews I read had written the shows off but I'm am so enthralled.

This has been happening a lot lately with critics and audiences disagreeing over the enjoyability of a show or movie. It is almost always flipped where if the critics like it the general audience doesn't or vice versa. I don't think a show has to be a masterpiece to be enjoyable and I think delivering cool worlds and unique stories is enough. On top of the fact that all of these reviews were written having not even seen half of the season let alone the full experience of the 10 episodes.

I just hope that people ignore the critics of these(and most tv and movies) and enjoy the stories for what they are and not the deeper meaning often overemphasized by critics. If we don't then we won't get cool new ideas and will just have the same massive Star Wars releases and remakes.

Tl;Dr: I think the critics were too harsh so early on with these shows and that most general audiences will find at least one show they like.

Just got an Apple TV 4K... experiencing very slow (black screen) when going between HDR and SDR content.

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 07:41 PM PDT

Is there anyway to smooth this process out, or is this just how it is? I never experienced this on the previous generation Apple TV, then again it didn't have 4K HDR.

This doesn't happen on my PS4, going between HDR and SDR.

Maybe something I need to tweak in the settings?

Turning on with wrong HDMI input

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 12:50 AM PDT

When I first set up my Apple TV, I could put it to sleep and wake it up on the correct HDMI input. It only did it for a day or two but now when I wake up my Apple TV, it does not wake up with the correct input from my TV. I have a Vizio smart cast TV and it switches to the main input for the smart cast. Any ideas how to fix it to where it turns on to the Apple TV input?

Dish login with app or TV only

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 12:18 AM PDT

New to using the appletv app.

I have access to a dish login with tons of channels, but it seems I still have to subscribe to them on the app?

Is that something the actual appletv device has access to, or am I just incorrectly thinking I can use that login to access channels?

Subtitles not working on Amazon Prime via Apple TV

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 05:10 PM PDT

I am watching the new season of Jack Ryan on my apple TV and the subtitles of the Spanish speaking scenes worked in the first episode but not in the 2nd or 3rd. But I know there is subtitles in those scenes, as my friends haven't had a problem on their non-apple TV systems.

Anyone have suggestions on how to adjust or fix the issue?

Atmos support broken in 13.2 (17K5082A) beta and 13.2 (17K82)

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 10:13 PM PDT

Just a heads up, I updated to the latest beta tonight and all my Atmos content is playing in 5.1. I triple checked the content, rebooted everything, toggled Atmos support etc and no luck.

Turned off beta support and installed 13.2 17K82, and I'm still seeing 5.1. I'm sure Atmos was working earlier this week.

My test movies are Godzilla KOTM, Mad Max Fury Road, Spider-man FFH and See on Apple TV+.

Anyone else seeing the same issue?

    Netflix bug

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 10:00 AM PDT

When starting an episode of a TV show, Netflix immediately starts the next episode countdown, with no way of cancelling. To watch an episode I need to start the previous one, which makes it impossible to watch episode 1.

AppleTV 4k running tvos 13.2 - started with last update.

This episode isn't available to watch in the country or region you're currently in

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 08:33 PM PDT

I am getting the error "This episode isn't available to watch in the country or region you're currently in'.

I am using Amazon Fire Stick and Samsung 4K Smart TV and both give same error.

I have 'location' turned on in the app. I am in the United States. I am not using any VPN or proxy service.

I have rebooted the router and reset the Apple TV app.

Does not play at all on my computer.

Any ideas, other than waiting for Apple TV support to call me tomorrow?

My 4K TV that I have been using for the last 1 year doesn’t ‘support 4K anymore.’

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 08:34 AM PDT

So I have an Apple TV 4K, and I have been using it without any hiccups for the last one year or so. In the audio and video settings, it has always displayed the output as 4K HDR as well.

Today however, I accidentally switched the output to 480p, and my Apple TV doesn't want to switch back anymore. This is what it says when I try switching it back to 4K. And just to check, I even tried switching to 1080p and it showed this.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Am I missing something? Only 8 Shows total?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:31 AM PDT

Is there more to AppleTV+ than the 8 total shows I am seeing (with 1 additional to be added Nov 28)?

It is a super-cluttered interface making it seems like everything from HBO shows on are part of it (especially when you click on an HBO show & start watching only to find all FIRST shows in HBO series are free). I get that they wouldn't be included but why is it making it seem like all these shows are included?

I can't see paying a monthly fee for an 8 show catalog (especially when some are kids shows)---unless I am missing something.

Also, can't find anywhere anything about when new episodes of "The Morning Show" will be released (they only released 3), and how often & many there are total in a season. I mean with THAT many big working stars how long could it really go on?

Tell me there is more free programming, movies, etc other than trials of pay shows?

ALSO--- since this is just like iTunes for TV, why is a monthly fee REQUIRED to even access the ability to PURCHASE a show?

    Fireplace App

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 10:04 AM PDT

Looking for a good fireplace app on Apple TV 4. High quality video, sound is a must, and clean video looping. I don't want any time stamp or icons on the screen. I don't mind spending a few dollars.

    What do people recommend?

    Sale movies alert?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:48 AM PDT

Just wondering if there's any alerts (or subreddit to subscribe to) to let me know of movies that go on sale.

Bought Inception the other night for €3.99 in 4k to see what it was like & it might be a good way of building up a collection
