Whenever I plug my phone into my computer and launch iTunes, it gives me the option to "Set up as new iPhone" and "Restore from this backup" which was in 2016 even though I have backed up before. I am just trying to get my pictures onto my computer and backup the data on my phone, I don't want to reset my phone to a 2 year old backup. Help???

    A weird charging issue??

    Posted: 11 Aug 2018 12:08 AM PDT

Hi, this is my first post.

So I have an iPhone X and had it since this past Christmas. As of lately, my charger has been acting wonky? It won't charge the first time I plug it into my phone. It'll maybe take 7 times of unplugging it and replugging it to actually make a difference. I decided it's better to switch chargers but wouldn't you know it, my boyfriends charger doesn't work either. Same situation.

I tried plugging his phone into my charger and it worked fine. Then plugged his phone back into his charger and it worked for him.

    I don't understand.

It's might be worth mentioning that I did drop my phone today. It's in an otter box case and no visible scratches or such, but I just thought I'd mention.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

OneDrive app logs out in background

    Posted: 10 Aug 2018 05:37 PM PDT

Roughly every other time I open the OneDrive app, it launches to the log-in screen, then automatically logs itself in. No big deal, right? Problem is when it's "logged out" in the background, the camera syncing feature becomes disabled and it has to go through set up again and there may be a large backlog of photos to upload. It also removes OneDrive from the list of file location for the OS. I have to go into the Files app, edit locations, and turn on OneDrive. This behavior has persisted through system iOS updates and several app updates. My iPad does not exhibit similar behavior.

iPhone 6s not reading sim card.

    Posted: 10 Aug 2018 12:49 PM PDT

My iPhone 6s says that it's not reading the sim card in my phone. This happened about a week ago and I saw online that if you slightly bend the sim tray, the sim reader will read the sim card no problem. I did that and it worked for about a week, but today while using my phone it randomly just gave up. I tried bending the sim tray a little more but it didn't fix anything. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? It's something with my iPhone, since when I put the sim card in a different phone it works no problem.

I have a question about iphone charging

    Posted: 10 Aug 2018 02:55 PM PDT

I recently realised that every time i buy a new charging cable, there is the splash screen that appears in the middle of the screen with percentage of battery and then the phone charges normally, but today i saw that no matter if i charge my phone in sector or with the PC, that screen doesn't appear, it just shows the green bar and the charging symbol next to it.

I thought this screen just pops up randomly, or maybe does the cable started getting worked up and even though it charges/connects to PC, it just doesn't send the signal to make iOS pop that splash screen? (assuming this is a cable problem, and not just an iOS bug)

    Bluetooth Connectivity Problems

    Posted: 10 Aug 2018 01:10 PM PDT

My Bluetooth headphones randomly disconnect every few minutes (and sometimes after 5 seconds) and I don't know why.

It started after I connected Bluetooth to my friend's Suburu Crosstrek. I tried turning on and off Bluetooth, 'forget this device' on all devices, and restarted to no avail. I also updated to ios 11.4.1 thinking the update would fix it, but it didn't. Resetting Network settings helped a bit, but still disconnects

I have an iPhone 7, and can confirm that the headphones are not the problem (no problems on iphone 6+ and ipad mini 3)

    Shared albums aren’t loading?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2018 11:21 AM PDT

Hello, I've recently been on holidays with a friend and we took a lot of pictures with our phones. We'd like to share them with each other via the sharing tool using iCloud. (I'm not really up to date on that tbh.) Anyway, I did share an album with my friend who I believe subscribed to it and received the pictures on her phone. She did the same, but since I accepted her invitation to a shared album, it appears on the "timeline" but isn't loading. She has about 700 elements in there but I can't see any of them. Is there something I'm not doing right? Thank you!

    Offline website viewing not working

    Posted: 10 Aug 2018 10:50 AM PDT

I'm going on a trip for a week where my internet will be slow/limited. I wanted to save a bunch of information from websites without crowding my photo gallery. Is there an easy way to save websites for offline use.

I've tried through safari and not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but it's not working for me. When I go to the website, I click add to reading list and then go to the reading list, swipe to the left and click save offline. It seems to work at that point, but then when I go into airplane mode, it does not open for me and says not available for offline reading (tried with many sites so it's not just one with the issues).

Also, downloaded a bunch of free third party apps that offer offline browsing but they will not work. Some crash, some will work only on a couple of pages but not the others.

Any suggestions for third party apps or how to do this through safari?

TLDR Trying to save webpages and PDFs for offline viewing, can't seem to get any apps or safari to work for all. Any suggestions?

Wife's iPhone 7s Plus -- some apps crashing or slow after picture download interrupted and she updated to 11.4.1

    Posted: 10 Aug 2018 10:30 AM PDT

A couple of days ago, my wife's 7s Plus was getting full, so I plugged it into my Mac and used Image Capture to download and delete a bunch of videos. Then I set it to download a lot (thousands) of pictures, but during that process, the cord was pulled and it didn't finish.

Since then, the phone has been having many issues. Some apps freeze on loading screens, lock up after doing a few things, or just work poorly. To combat this, she updated from iOS 10 to iOS 11.4.1, the latest, yesterday morning. We read that the phone can take a while to sort out its internal databases after updating, but it's now been 24 hours.

Many apps are affected: - Settings works fine except when you go to certain submenus, like Privacy. Then it just locks up - Facebook sometimes works but often just sits on a blank blue banner screen - Both Apple and Google maps crash - Some games, like Township, Free Fall, June's Journey -- just won't load - Some games like Hole.io, iAssociate, Carcassone, Galaxy Trucker appear to work fine

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to which apps load, work, crash, or freeze! We wondered if it was login related because we share an Apple ID (rather than doing Family Sharing).

I have a backup of that phone from 6/10, a couple months ago, but I'm trying to avoid the full restore process. Any ideas?

Microsoldering data recovery experts in here? Privacy question

    Posted: 10 Aug 2018 09:39 AM PDT

About to drop off my liquid damaged 7+ to a local microsoldering/data recovery expert. Passcode was on the phone when liquid damaged happened so if it gets revived I am assuming it will still require it.

In theory (without assuming skill or time constraints) can someone clone the NAND (possible) AND the CPU? I understand both go together in encryption of data. There is a NAND cloning exploit that will allow someone to brute force the passcode eventually but I was wondering if there was a CPU clone as well so basically they can have a second copy of my phone somewhere and brute force it after they have already given me back the phone.
