Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion - What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 04:00 PM PDT

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.

    5 RTS Games I Enjoy

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 10:03 AM PDT

I think that the RTS genre translates extremely well to mobile. However, it can feel like there are only pay-to-win RTS games because of their constant advertisements everywhere. That's why I wanted to throw together a list of some of the ones I've personally enjoyed! I hope it helps others find an RTS game to sink some time into!

I also made a video that contains gameplay footage and further information about each individual game within this list.

Feel free to watch it here: https://youtu.be/yiflvnOlqGo

Alright, let's get right into it!

    ———————————————————————

    1. Galcon 2: This is an old one but a good one! You start out controlling various planets. The larger the planet is, the faster units will spawn on the planet. You can then order units from planet to planet in order to take over new planets. Its mechanics are simple to understand but the gameplay remains very strategic. Single/multiplayer matches are very quick and satisfying. I highly suggest this one!

    2. Northgard: This is one of my personal favorites on mobile. It has a distinct "civ-builder" feel to it while also including everything else that the RTS genre is known for. There are several clans to play as and every one of them has a unique play style to set them apart from the rest. It's important to note that this is an extremely well-done mobile port and it's just as good on mobile as other platforms.

    Link To Game: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/northgard/id1533979882

    3. Rusted Warfare: This one strongly reminds me of a flash game due to its art style and sound design. It has several game modes along with a ton of options/settings to boot. Due to its large-scale battles and numerous units on the screen at once, it truly feels like a full-fledged PC RTS. It doesn't add anything unique to the RTS genre but what it does, it does really well.

    4. Domination Wars: This game streamlines the core RTS formula by removing some of the micromanaging that RTS games tend to have. You build different encampments that spawn various units. These units control their own actions so most of your decision-making involves utilizing abilities and building encampments in the right place, at the right time. Matches are quick, hectic, and fun. This one is a great option for a more casual experience.

    5. RTS Siege Up!: This game has quite a bit of charm because of its art style. It has a single-player campaign, multiplayer, and a level-creator where you can share/play created levels. It's important to note that you can also play this in either portrait or landscape mode. I've been really impressed by this one and it has quickly become one of my favorites on mobile! You can't go wrong with giving it a go, in my opinion!

Slots game for my mother with Alzheimers

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 10:11 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to find a slots game that has no adds. Happy to pay outright for a game but my mum always gets confused when adds show up , she taps on them thinking they're the game and opens the app store. She then gets stuck and ends up hiding her tablet as she thinks she is being "hacked"

    any recommendations?

    Best flight simulator games?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 12:19 PM PDT

What are some of your top rated flight simulator games? I'm a huge fan of aerofly fs 21. Looking for like-kind games to that, which inspires realistic flight, good visuals, realistic layouts (although not a priority).

I'm interested in Rortos's selection of flight simulators, already owning extreme landings pro. Are there any other rortos games that are good? Does anyone know the difference between extreme landings, f18 Carrier landing, and carrier landings pro?

    Anyone playing Domination Wars?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 06:33 AM PDT

    Link: https://apps.apple.com/hk/app/domination-wars/id1568296992?l=en

I picked this up from the "what are you playing" thread. It has so much potential!

It's basically a more free-form clash Royale where you can place units and items anywhere on the map in a retro pixel RTS style. As far as I can tell it's only single player missions but I'm really hoping they open this up for PVP.

    Anyone else playing SOULS?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 04:52 PM PDT

Randomly found this game on the App Store. Looks like it just launched and I've been loving it so far!

Gacha style idle game. Seems to be very F2P friendly, I can't even find anywhere to even spend money tbh

Guilds and PvP are coming soon

    Check it out!

Games that change/grow when you come back?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 03:54 PM PDT

And preferably not in app purchase games. I feel like Godus was like that?

But yeah like growing food results in you coming back to having more money, a town grows while you're away , etc.

I've been trying to find a game like that with no luck.

Looking for an old zombie RTS game

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 09:21 AM PDT

It was a zombie game where you play as a soldier who has to make their way into a lab (i think). It was an RTS game with tile-based movement and turn-based combat. I'm thinking like circa 2010-2012.

Guys, we published this game two months ago on IOS. It is completely FREE (NO ADS). The idea is simple, you need to use your finger/stylus pen to draw slopes, disable traps and fight monsters! However, don't be fooled. The game is VERY HARD! We would love to get feedback from you. Thanks!

Any games that aren't super P2W and lean more towards rpg games? Dungeon crawlers, lords Mobile, Art of conquest, or anything more fantasy-ish. I cant find anything that catches my eye on the App Store and reading reviews there is unreliable so…help?

So I recently got my first iPhone, before I had Samsung phones. I've looked online to see if there was an app I could download in order to play Pokémon Roms but none of the apps I find actually work.
