iOS Gaming Does anyone remember N.O.V.A. 3 from Gameloft? Probably the best mobile FPS of its era. Now, it’s unplayable in newer iPhones due to the latest iOS versions. Is there any workaround so it can run on latest iPhones?

Been a while since I played iOS games - are there any online space strategy games worth playing now?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 10:53 AM PST

I'm generally not looking an EVE Online type game, more of a Starbase Orion type game where you command your own base/sector and command fleets of ship.

I don't necessarily need active strategy battles, but I do want a type of battle where each ship matters (and can be named preferably).

I looked at some reviews of Infinite Lagrange and it seems similar to what I want? I didn't like Nova Empire because your fleet was just a number, instead of a smaller amount of unique ships.

EDIT: I also want a bit more involved PVP and politics than Hades' Star, if anyone was going to answer that.

Looking for games like Archero without the energy bar

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 11:02 PM PST

I really like Archero. I hate the energy bar. Are there any games like Archero without the energy bar gimmick? Paid or free. I'd appreciate it.

    Looking for old pirate game

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 04:51 PM PST

Probably 8 years ago roughly , there was an ips game where you had a pirate ship you could upgrade and do quests to obtain, say, a golden rudder, and you'd collect all the pieces of the set for bonuses.

Part of the game involved sailing around the open water, occasionally being attacked by other pirates where you'd have to aim your cannon at them in kind of a first-person view from the cannon

One day there was a message that the developer was shutting it down, but it was so fun and i still think about it, and wish i remembered the name in case it ever came back or the developer made something else.

The graphics were cartoony, not realistic, and i am 90% sure it was single player but there was a leaderboard tracking... something... and i want to say some of the other pirate ships you encountered would be the names/models of other actual players (even though it wasnt them controlling the ship)

Just curious if this rings a bell for anyone

Iphone discharging awfully fast when using "fast chargers"

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 06:34 PM PST

I was in a pinch today so i used my MacBook charging block to charge my phone. In 20 mins my iphone 11 was already at 70% and I went my way. I played 2 matches of wild rift when my phone was around 68 percent and after those games my phone is only at 30% charge. Does using fast chargers discharge your iphone faster?

    I am Bored. Need Suggestions.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 06:31 AM PST

I have 3 games I rotate through playing on my Ipad. I have played them all for the last 3-4 years and I am just bored silly.

I don't mind paying for a good game. In fact, I have sunk over $100 into Civilization 6 and every single upgrade they offer because it is the most amazing game I have found for Ipad. But after years, I am even bored of this.

My other 2 games are similar to each other; Neverwinter Nights and the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale series. I like these a lot as well . But I'm also bored silly after several years.

The problem is I cant find anything that is even close to the quality of these games IMO available for Ipad.

Any suggestions based on these ones? I keep thinking surely something good has been released in the past 4 years and I have somehow missed it.

    Arcade-y, kid friendly games?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2022 02:10 PM PST

My school has iPads that kids can use as an activity for when they get a small break.

I'm looking for small arcade kind of games that a kid can hop on and play for ~5-7 minutes without getting too invested that it's impossible to pull them away. Paid is fine. Also something that isn't peppered with ads or harvests all your data. Big ask, I know :)

Here are three that kind of hit the vibe:

Desert Golfing - Fun, endless, pretty, they can basically stop at any point

1 Meter - Each "round" is maybe about ~45 seconds long so they won't be too invested to play much more than a couple of times

Canabalt - Endless runner with no IAP and ads so I think this a good choice

    Appreciate any ideas! Thank you!

What do you play during meals?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2022 04:24 PM PST

I play games on my phone over my lunch break at work. As it turns out, I'm extremely picky about it too. I need the controls to work properly one-handed, something fun and interesting but not too interesting, I need to be able to save at a moment's notice, and I like there to be a story that's compelling but not so much that I'll be left on a cliffhanger in between meals.

I've found a couple RPGs that work but a lot that don't. I love Chrono Trigger having played it on the SNES when I was a kid and I have a copy for the DS, but I don't like playing it with a virtual joystick while I eat with my other hand. Best was Guildlings on Apple Arcade which is designed for phones.

So far the absolute best I've found is the Ace Attorney games. They are great in landscape which works for having my phone balanced on top of my lunch bag, point and click gameplay works perfectly one handed, and while the story has a lot of ups and downs, it also has that anime, trope-y feel to it that I know it's all going to work out for the best by the end.

What are your experiences gaming over lunch? What do you do and what are your favorite games?

    Paid clicker/idle games ?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2022 01:09 PM PST

Was looking for more paid clicker/idle games similar to idle acorns and space plan. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'll even settle for some fun free clicker/idle games. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
