iMac 2018 rebooted and tried to install update while at work? Help! Posted: 01 May 2020 07:53 PM PDT So I came to my iMac frozen on an install Bar screen. I then shut it off and started it again and it began starting to download some update, then it said the update could not be installed on the computer and to get it into diagnostic mode. So I did that and it just froze up. Now I'm trying recovery mode to see what happens, same thing as diagnostic, it's frozen. I'm positive I had automatic updates shut off so I'm mystified what exactly happened as I did not start downloading any updates before I left. What to do? [link] [comments] |

Unable to change my region/country in Apple ID. Posted: 01 May 2020 07:23 PM PDT Hi everyone, I moved from Cambodia to NZ in February and have recently got a 2015 Macbook Pro. I haven't tried logging into Apple ID since I had my Macbook before I moved - which was stolen. I'm now trying to login to the app store etc but it won't let me download any apps due to the billing information being outdated. When I try to change my region/country from Cambodia - it says "You cannot change the storefront information for your account at this time." I did some digging and read that subscription and built up store credit could be a possible cause, but I have none - nor do I have store credit. This has been extremely frustrating because I've made some purchases on the AppStore previously and now I can't access those apps. Any help on this would be amazing and so helpful, thanks. td;lr Unable to change billing/payment info due to blocked region/country change. Edit: spelling [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2020 04:50 PM PDT My Mac is not new, and after going through high school and college with it, it has certainly gathered a lot of junk in it, and I got the notification today that I have run out of memory on my computer. I went through and deleted 8 gigabytes worth of stuff, mostly from music software. 5 minutes later I started getting the notifications that I am running out of space, and it says I only have 89 MB of space available. I am trying to understand how that is even possible. Where did all the space I freed up go in the span of about 5 minutes?? Any other memory maintenance advice accepted as well! [link] [comments] |

iPad won’t turn on after I press the sleep button Posted: 01 May 2020 04:33 PM PDT When I press the top button to turn the iPad off, it goes black like always, but afterwards it stops working unless I reset the device. I bought it 2 weeks ago from Apple and it's an iPad Air 3. Does anyone know the solution to this problem? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro Without Touchbar not turning on Posted: 01 May 2020 06:33 PM PDT As stated in the title, my MacBook (A1708) will not turn on. I closed my MacBook this morning and came back to it an hour later, when it would not turn on. No responsiveness, no fan spin, nothing. I tried holding the power button for a while, different chargers, the SMC reset, and another type of reset that I don't remember the name of. I called Apple support and they told me to send it in, but since I'm out of warranty I know they are going to probably charge me for a whole new logic board. Another thing to note is that sometimes my USB ports would have issues, I'd have to reposition my chargers for a good connection as well as my usb dongle that I use. I also had an incident a couple months back where my machine went from 50% to saying it was dead, and when I finally got to a charger it powered on at 50%. Any ideas on what this might be? What’s the difference between updating my iPhone using my phone vs with a computer? Posted: 01 May 2020 09:52 PM PDT I know the difference is that with iTunes on a computer, I download the entire update while if I update using my phone, only the things that changed get updated, or something like that. But is there really any difference? Does anything change if I update with iTunes instead of going to Software Update in settings? [link] [comments] |
iPhone XS Max loses connectivity Posted: 01 May 2020 09:32 PM PDT I have an iPhone XS Max that I purchased new from Verizon when they first came out. Over the past 3 weeks, I have been having an issue connecting, both wifi and my data connection to Verizon. It happens when I first pick up the phone after a night of having it on the charger. It has happened 3 times, 3 seemingly random mornings, not every morning. I can send/receive calls, send/receive texts, but no data. I have been in the same room as my router and my laptop is connected to the wifi but my phone won't connect. I have turned the phone off an back on, no help. I turned the wifi off and back on, nothing. I have turned the wifi off, restarted the phone and nothing. I have reset the cellular connection and no help. It has lasted anywhere from 2 hours up to six one day. Then, as if by magic, it reconnects and everything works fine. I got so frustrated one day that I was ready to call and order the 11 Pro Max because I was so frustrated with it. But it eventually reconnected and I decided I am going to wait for the 12. I have dropped it a few times, nothing too severe. It has been in a case with a screen protector since Day 1 plus I have not dropped it recently. The first time it happened was the day before the latest update, too, but it has done it twice since the update. Any ideas, concerning this issue, would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 May 2020 05:18 PM PDT Tried deleting an app and it's files, was able to remove the app but not some remaining files. Tried removing via drag and drop to trash can, and in terminal $ sudo rm -R <filepath> Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Why can't I upgrade iCloud storage? Posted: 01 May 2020 08:54 PM PDT When I go into iCloud settings - manage storage - It says "Change Storage Plan" but when I press it it doesn't do anything. How do I upgrade to more? I have my card on file. [link] [comments] |
Help, issue with laptop not turning on normally Posted: 01 May 2020 08:39 PM PDT Hey there, i have an early 2011, 13 inch MacBook Pro running high sierra. Was working perfectly fine until just yesterday, where it would no longer power on. I took the bottom panel off, unplugged the battery and plugged back in, and then it turned on again thankfully. However, when i shut the computer down again it no longer turns turn on. I have tried resetting SMC (had the charger in and saw it change to green for a couple of seconds to indicate it had reset) but still no luck. . I have also tried testing the ram and removing one at a time to see if either as faulty, but still no luck The only way i can turn this laptop on is to unplug the battery, and then plug it in again every time Any help would be appreciated . Can other people see my iCloud data? Posted: 01 May 2020 08:00 PM PDT Hey y'all, I found a phone that was reseted, but iCloud locked. Anyways, when I turned it on, it had an option to link iCloud to "new" iPhone, and I accidentally tapped continue. Does this mean the other person have access to my data? [link] [comments] |
Mac Air 13”, Mac Pro 13” or Mac Mini? 2020 Posted: 01 May 2020 07:30 PM PDT Hey guys, I'm struggling on which 2020 Mac would be more suitable for me as I've been reading conflicting arguments on each product. I record and edit music, I need something that can run multiple programs simultaneously. I can only afford the base model of one product so I'm after a serious suggestion into what will be most efficient for me. I've read the processor in the air is newer than the pro, how much is this going to affect me? What about the Mac Mini which people also seem to agree is as powerful in some aspects as the pro? Unfortunately the only comparisons I can find on these products mostly mention upgrading the base models which I just can't afford. I've had one salesman tell me to get a Pro, and another telling me to get a Mac Mini. Thank you so much for any insight. Edit: Please remove if this isn't allowed in this subreddit. It was against the rules in r/Apple [link] [comments] |

Photos not moved by Migration Assistant Posted: 01 May 2020 07:20 PM PDT I am having this exact same problem, except I have a Macbook Pro from 2010 and a new Air. I tried to follow the directions here, but I can't find the library folder. Can you help me find the folder I am looking for? Are there different directions I need to follow? https://www.reddit.com/r/applehelp/comments/cb8g0u/photos_not_moved_by_migration_assistant/ [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to lock individual apps? Posted: 01 May 2020 03:23 PM PDT I'm on an IPhone 8 Plus, version 13.1.2 and I'm trying to lock my apps. I know there's a way using the screen time settings but if someone knows how to they can just go into my settings and disable the password. Is there a way to lock the settings app itself or is there another method to lock my apps other than using screen time? [link] [comments] |
Automate read push (remote) notifications on iOS and convert to text file Posted: 01 May 2020 07:06 PM PDT Hello, I'm not a typical Apple iOS user and have been using Android. I would like to know if Apple has a similar application like Automate/Tasker/AutoMagic that can automatically read incoming push notifications (remote ones) from other apps, read the title/main body text and write it to a CSV file and save it on the cloud. I know this can be doing with the mentioned Android apps, but would like to know if any iOS apps can achieve the same functionality. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
