Macbook Pro Purchase Considerations Posted: 01 Aug 2018 04:31 PM PDT Trying to decide between a refurbished 2015 15" Macbook Pro 4 core 2.5GHz i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2GB with HDMI, USB, MagSafe adapter for $1850 AND a brand new Apple 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, 6 core Intel Core i7 2.6GHz, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Radeon Pro 560X 4GB, Space Gray for $3319. Primary uses will be: -Lightroom working with 10-20 MB files, some 40MB files, with some deeper editing of photos in Photoshop, 60% home use. -Traktor Digital Vinyl DJ software Secondary usage will be: -Reason and other DAW (Digital Audio Workstations) for both live recording and studio recording -multi-tasking managerial duties, (spreadsheets for ordering/scheduling events with browser running, notepad, google drive, playing music, all simultaneously) -playing Hi Res movie files through projector (2-5 GB) -Light gaming Other major considerations are: Longevity and future proof-ness. I don't want to buy another laptop in 3 years. Connectivity. I'm human, I misplace or don't always remember dongles, however I'm fine with buying dedicated adapters for cables. MagSafe power adapter. I haven't used a USB-C charging port yet, but Im nervous about the lack of it and the damage it could cause in a situation where the MagSafe would have protected it. Ultimately, I feel like I'm weighing the benefits of newer hardware, primarily the 6 core 2.6 i7 chip, the 4gb video card (don't really care about touch bar, although I see benefits in workflow for lightroom/photoshop) versus the benefits of having a dedicated HDMI port, USB ports and a magsafe adapter for roughly $1000 less. Am I going to notice a performance difference when doing any of the above between the two laptops? How about 3 years from now? And will spending the extra $1500 now ensure I don't have to spend $1850 again in 4 years? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Aug 2018 05:20 AM PDT Hi all. I have a fairly decent Photos library (about 130.000 items) and I noticed that it is quite slow (about 100 pictures a day) are scanned for face recognition in the People tab. Does any of you have any suggestion to speed this up? Since I am shooting almost more pictures than it scans in a day I will not live to see this process ending. [link] [comments]
If anyone is on Mojave PB4 can you tell me the build number? Posted: 01 Aug 2018 08:17 PM PDT r/MacOSBeta seems dead as fuck!... If anyone here is on the beta, could you tell me your build number please. [link] [comments]
Ok So, I did something really stupid and I realize that. Posted: 01 Aug 2018 06:15 PM PDT So I was high and: I used an app called "Batchmod" to set / to read and write for every user like a fucking idiot. So now, when I try to open terminal, it crashes instantly. So I thought "Meh just reinstall". So I went into recovery mode and reinstalled high sierra disregarding all my data like a fucking dumbass. Little did I know, that doesn't erase your data. So I was glad. But now, I can't login. Even though the FileVault password lets me in, the main login doesn't. I type my password and I know it is the right one, but it shakes. Oh, I tried doing the command "resetPassword" in recovery mode within macOS Utilities. Am I screwed? I need help. Please. I realize I was dumb, trust me. Now whenever I smoke, I lock my laptop away. But is there a way to get back into my Mac? Thanks. [link] [comments]
