I was pretty drunk and went into a pool with it and I must have not completely closed the case because it ended up getting soaked. Yeah i'm dumb. Anyways, I have an iPhone X coming in a few weeks and did the IUP program which comes w/ AC+. I also have Verizon's insurance plan where you pay $200 for a new phone in case of damage/theft. What should I do? Should I find a phone repair shop and try to get the water damage fixed so I can try to sell the phone for $100-200? Should I recycle it? | Apple is requesting me to cancel one of my two iPhone X orders Posted: 29 Oct 2017 12:45 PM PDT Email from Apple: https://imgur.com/s2RAW5M The story is that two iPhone X orders are being done through the same line through Apple. Here's the reason why. One is being done through a 2-year contract upgrade offered through Sprint, which is still offered to legacy plan owners (this iPhone will be transferred to my father upon arrival). The other is going through the Apple iPhone Upgrade program (this one will be for me). I called Apple and they said there can only be 1 phone per line but I've done this in the past where I've transferred a phone to someone else under my Sprint account. They documented all this under my order notes stating that both phones are not for the same line and one of the iPhone Xs will be for my father. They said this documentation does not guarantee anything at all and best bet would be to check on the order status in the next couple of days. It would be a bummer if I have to cancel one of my iPhone X orders since I woke up at 2:55am just to order them. It would have been great if I just received an error stating that I can't order on the same line instead of hearing this now so if I do order again, the second iPhone X will take 5-6 weeks to come as opposed to this Friday. Whenever i get a new device i used to just set up the device with previous backup from my MBAir. i think my back is corrupted, because i had jailbroken my iPhone 6 and that backup has some setting that even if i change it won't take effect in the phone (example: batter percentage if i have it off - it still stays on) -- Now my questions is with this new iPhone X i want to start fresh, but i still want my Photos, chat history, Whats App chat history and contact to show up - but all other apps i can re-download and login again - is there any way i could do this? | Posted: 29 Oct 2017 09:40 PM PDT I replaced a cracked Iphone 6 screen and a couple weeks after the top right corner started looking darker and sometimes would like normal. | Posted: 29 Oct 2017 09:33 PM PDT Hey guys, I basically did something really dumb, i was cleaning my keyboard from dust and dirt, I have done this regulary before, but tonight I attempted to do this to the down arrow key for the first time, little did I know its not popped out from the top like the others keys, but sideways, so trying to pull it out from the top, i actually broke one of the hooking points, the top right one to be specific, and I added pictures in the link below, to make it worse the key cap itself got slightly chipped, good news is that it still pops in, as the 3 other connecting points are not damaged, but when using it its not sensitive anymore on the left side, and you have to push really hard for it to work, now what are my options? the macbook is 2 weeks old, I've never dropped or spilled anything on it. Can I take this to my apple reseller where I bought it or will it void my entire warranty to get it repaired? will it be pricey? I've found a website that sells replacement keys, but i'm uncertain how to remove the butterfly mechanism itself and replace it, I dont wanna do anymore damage than i've already done, and dont plan on attempting to clean keys in the fashion ever again, I will just use compressed air from now on.... | I accidentally deleted a priceless video from my recently deleted Posted: 29 Oct 2017 05:42 PM PDT I deleted a video from my recently deleted that cannot be replicated. PLEASE help me get it back. What are some good recovery apps for mac computer? I have tried Enigma Recovery and EaseUs MobiSaver to no avail. They seem to only be able to find videos that are currently on my phone, and not the deleted from "recently deleted" ones. Please let me know some trusted apps I can use to get the videos back. I don't think the videos were backed up onto iCloud (it was initially on iMovie, but as you may know, if the videos are not present in your camera roll, then iMovie will not have them either). Posted: 29 Oct 2017 09:24 PM PDT So when I got this laptop a little over a year ago I could get 9 or so hours browsing webpages. Now, I'm not sure if it's gradually degraded but I decided to check how long I could browse safari today and I was only able to get 6-7 hours. I'm not sure if this is a normal amount of battery degradation. I checked coconut battery and it says that my full charge capacity is 5608 mah compared to the design capacity of 6559 mah, meaning it's almost down to 80 per cent of the original capacity (after 447 cycles)... Also, I'm not sure if it was because of the apps I had open, so for reference I had safari open with a lot of tabs, spotify for some of the time, preview, word, one note, outlook, and istudiez pro. MacBook Air with Bluetooth Keyboard Setup Window Stuck Posted: 29 Oct 2017 09:04 PM PDT I was watching Hulu on my MacBook Air when it just stopped working and there was a spiraling loading thing. I figured it was the internet connection since that's pretty spotty in parts of my apt. So I pressed the escape key to get out of full screen and that didn't work. So I closed my computer and when I opened it the screen was black and would not come on. So I connected it to the charger and just assumed I would have to go to Best Buy tomorrow (we don't have an Apple store anywhere near us) but my husband opened my computer and it came on (maybe 30 minutes after it stopped working). So I clicked on my user and logged in and then my trackpad stopped working. It started loading chrome, then my work software and then a thing popped up saying it was searching for a Bluetooth keyboard setup, and I don't have a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse. I let it sit for a while but nothing happened so I turned it off and turned it back on and it did the same thing. Any idea what it could be? [link] [comments]  |

| Peculiar Issue - Mac Shuts Down when NOT connected to HDMI Posted: 29 Oct 2017 02:38 PM PDT I couldn't figure out what was causing my Mac (retina 15" late 2013) to randomly shut down, until I realized that it only shut down (again randomly, but sometime within about 15 minutes or so) when I remove the hdmi cable (which is usually in). What might be causing this? And might there be any software based solution which would allow me to "simulate" the hdmi connection so I can use the machine elsewhere? It doesn't seem worth paying an excessive amount to apple when I can, if worst comes to worst, just buy an HDMI dummy plug. [link] [comments]  |

| MacBook Pro 2017 model overheats after High Siera update Posted: 29 Oct 2017 03:23 PM PDT Hi Mac environmentalists. if anyone could shine a light on my problem or perhaps you had the same issue and found a solution already.I have not. I have new MacBook Pro 2017 and recently upgraded to High Siera. After the upgrade, my Mac's fans run a marathon never stop and the machine is very hot. As a result, all this renders my Mac to be quite slow. I tried resetting SMC, PRAM, ticked off iCloud, waited for reindexing etc. Nothing helps. | iPad - "Open In..."-function (Safari) disappeared Posted: 29 Oct 2017 06:01 PM PDT Until a few days ago Safari on my iPad (iOS 11.0.3) had a "open in" function for PDFs. I used that to import PDFs in Goodnotes. All of sudden that functions seems to have disappeared. It could be accessed by simply tapping the screen once. Now if I do that: Nothing happens. I've done the obvious aka restarted, cleared memory, checked for updates but nothing changed it. Does anyone have an idea how I can access that option again? Not having that sucks big time. I use my iPad mainly as a digital notepad (that's like 95% of its use) with GoodNotes and now I have to download shit (for convenience I do that on my PC because it's just easier), upload it to some cloud storage and then import it from there to GoodNotes. | Static noise when moving my mouse? Posted: 29 Oct 2017 04:52 PM PDT My MacBook Pro is a 13 inch, early 2015 model running on macOS Sierra (version 10.12.6). I use a SteelSeries Sensei [RAW] wired mouse. For some reason, whenever I move the mouse, I would hear static noises coming from my macbook. I have tried plugging my mouse into different usb ports, checking to ensure my mouse's drivers are up-to-date, and playing around with the polling rate (a suggestion I found through a google result that makes it a bit fainter when I set it to the lowest setting, but not completely), but the problem unfortunately persists. Anyone know what might be causing it and if there is something else I can try before bringing it into an apple store? Posted: 29 Oct 2017 08:08 AM PDT After updating to iOS 11 and the most recent update (ios 11.03), recent calls on my phone show as numbers instead of the name of the contact person. In addition, the country code of my country shows up as Brazil. Will there be any official fix from Apple? This is occurring to everyone in Brunei. There is an unofficial fix where we need to switch temporarily to International SIM card then turn off and on the Dial Assist in the Phone Settings menu. After that hard reset the iPhone. Then shut it down. Then change the SIM card to Local SIM card. This solution works. But this does not work for iPhone 7 and later. Only works on iPhone 6s and below. | Keep receiving the same two-step verification text over and over! Posted: 29 Oct 2017 04:36 PM PDT This isn't about someone trying to get into my account. Please read, thank you! Yesterday I logged in to icloud.com to check my iCloud contacts. Upon login, I entered the 6-digit verification code sent to me as a text (I don't have Apple devices anymore, therefore I've kept using the old two-step verification vs. two-factor authentication). All was well and I soon signed out. Then, I received the same verification text again. To be clear, I did not receive a new verification code. I literally received the same text one more time, like this: 5 minutes later, I received the same verification text for the third time again. I decided to log back in to icloud.com and this time I received a new verification code. I signed out and thought that was it, a temporary glitch or something. However, 5 minutes later I received a text again, but this time with the newly generated verification code. Right now the situation looked like this: I thought it'll eventually stop and went to bed, as it was late, only to wake up this morning to 87 texts from Apple. They were all exactly the same verification texts. No new verification code is generated, it is always the same text over and over again. Troubleshooting this issue, I've tried rebooting my phone and taking the SIM card out and putting it back in. Just in case it's related to my phone. That didn't help. I even put the SIM card into another phone temporarily and surely enough the texts keep appearing every 5 minutes, so it's not a problem with my phone. Now I decided to completely turn off two-step verification and I was able to successfully set three security questions for my Apple ID again. Yet, the verification texts keep on coming. I have no idea what to do about this and it's driving me nuts. Due to the weekend I haven't been able to contact AppleCare, but I will call them tomorrow ASAP. Has anyone experienced something similar and were you able to fix the problem in any way? Quite honestly I feel like this is a glitch on Apple's end and I've never had this happen before.
